by Darin Racek

LEXINGTON, NE (July 12) - Dawson County Raceway in Lexington will be holding a special for Modifieds, Stock Cars, and Hobby Stocks on Sunday night, July 22, and it will be entitled the "Platte River Valley Shootout." The gates open at 5 PM, Central Time, and the races will start at 7 PM, Central Time. All three classes will be sanctioned by the International Motor Contest Association, and they all will run for IMCA national, regional, and state points. There will be no track points that night. Heat races and potential B Features will be run to determine which drivers qualify for the A Features. All classes will draw for starting positions in heat races, and A Feature qualifiers via heat race finishes will redraw for A Feature starting spots. A maximum of 24 cars will be allowed to start each division's A Feature.

The IMCA Modifieds have the potential to run for $1000 to win and $75 to start the A Feature, based on 40 registered cars. The IMCA Stock Cars are guaranteed $400 to win, thanks in part to Coca Cola. The NAPA Night At The Races group will be in Lexington that night for the IMCA Hobby Stocks, and the winner of that A Feature will win $250. The IMCA Stock Cars will get $50 to start the A Feature, and the IMCA Stocks will get $40 to start, each of those numbers based on a minimum of 25 registered cars per class. Fans will be elligible for some nice giveaways, featuring a $150 tool set from Coca Cola, a $25 gift certificate from Wal-Mart, and some other items courtesy of NAPA and the Dawson County Raceway.

Registration fees will be $30 for IMCA Modifieds, $15 for IMCA Stock Cars, and $10 for IMCA Hobby Stocks. Those fees do not include pit passes. Pit passes are $25. Admission in the grandstand will be $12 for adults, $5 for children 6 - 12, and free for kids 5 and under. Dawson County Raceway is on the Dawson County Fairgrounds on U. S.
