Clark Memorial special this Sunday at I-80

GREENWOOD, Neb. (August 11) - The inaugural Charlie Clark Memorial special for IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will be Sunday, Aug. 16 at I-80 Speedway.

Payouts will reflect the no. 22 car number of the former IMCA Modified competitor and buyer of the first K-mod built by Kosiski Racing Products.

The main event for Modifieds pays $2,022 to win, the feature for Northern SportMods $722.

Modified heats pay $122 to win and $22 for second. SportMods receive $22 to win their heats. Heat race money is sponsored by Kosiski Auto Parts.

Twenty-two cars are scheduled to start each feature; two more will be added to the field if entries top 40.

The Modified feature will be 44 laps. At the halfway point, the red flag will be thrown and all cars will stop on the front stretch. A three minute pit break will be given for all cars to add fuel, change a tire and/or make adjustments with pit crew involvement.

The leader at halfway will receive $222, second place will receive $122 and third place will receive $22.

There will be an optional draw fee of $25 for Modifieds and $15 for the SportMods, which will be donated to the Heart Foundation in Clark's memory.

Donors will start in the front of the heats in the order they draw; drivers who do not draw will start behind them and will be lined up by their IMCA inverted track point average.

All qualifiers are eligible to redraw for the feature.

Minimum to win the chassis manufacturers race will be $250. Mach-1 Sport Compacts and GM Performance Crate Models are also on the program. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded in the four sanctioned divisions.

Pit gates will open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand will open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. and racing starts at 5:55 p.m.

Clark, also former owner of Harris Racing, died in May after suffering a heart attack. He was 59.
Modifieds race for a top prize of $1,000 in a second Fast Shafts All-Star qualifying event at I-80 on Monday, Aug. 17. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded that night as well.
