US 30 adds IMCA Northern SportMods, Hobbies in 2010
COLUMBUS, Neb. (Jan. 18) – One IMCA division is new while another returns to
Thursday night race programs at US 30 Speedway.
The Columbus venue becomes the latest track to add Karl Chevrolet Northern
SportMods, while bringing the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks back to its weekly
lineup. US 30 will also feature the IMCA Modified and Mach-1 Sport Compact
classes in its silver anniversary season.
“Having sanctioned classes is easier for us and for the drivers. The rules
are the same at every sanctioned track so drivers know they’re legal when
they come here,” said promoter Sam Ganskow, who is especially optimistic
about the new open wheeled division. “Northern SportMods are a good,
economical class and running on Thursday nights gives drivers another place
to chase national points.”
Opening night is scheduled for April 29, with the final night of the 2010
point season tentatively set for Sept. 2.
Hobby Stock points earned at US 30 figure in Jet Racing Northern Region
standings for the division.
US 30 has sanctioned its Modifieds with IMCA since 1994. Sport Compacts
joined the lineup last year.
