Terry Phillips Scores 100th Career Lucas Oil MLRA Win!
GREENWOOD, NE (September 3, 2010) - For the first time in the 22 year
history of the Lucas Oil MLRA, a single driver has 100 wins. Springfield,
Missouri's Terry Phillips achieved this milestone Friday September 3rd, 2010
at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska. Phillips passed race leader Brad
Looney at lap 17 and never looked back.
The 30 lap feature started with a tough battle on the front row with
Henderson, Colorado's Kelly Boen and Republic, Missouri's Brad Looney. Boen
spun, sending him to the back of the field after causing the first caution
of the night. Boen was able to work his way back into the top ten before
having motor issues and leaving the track before the checkers. Omaha,
Nebraska's John Anderson made a charge for the lead late in the race after
passing Looney for second. Anderson briefly passed Phillips before sliding
back in to second position where he finished the race. With rear-end
problems Brad Looney was able to hold on for a third place finish. Dave
Eckrich and Al Purkey battled neck in neck for the seventh position, Purkey
was able to secure the spot, but not the points lead.
Phillip's Don Babb Motorsports GRT Racing Chassis is powered by a Hatfield
Racing Engine with sponsorship support from Andy's Frozen Custard, New
Vision Graphics, Integra Racing Shocks, and Port City Racing.
The Lucas Oil MLRA points championship standings continue to tighten with
only six points separating the top three drivers. Dave Eckrich holds a two
point lead over six time MLRA points champion, Al Purkey. Sitting only four
points back in third position is Brad Looney.
