HERRING AND HARRIS DOMINATE THE FIELD

WEST LIBERTY, Ia (May 6, 2006) - The QCSA Auto Auction Hornets brought a large field of cars to the track. Twenty-five cars made the main event with Chris Havel setting the early pace. Robert Harding would challeng him as they swap the lead a couple of times. There leads would not last long as Shaun Slaughter came all the way from the back and would take over the race lead by lap five. Slaughter would go on for and easy victory with Robert Harding second, Jarrod McMichael third, Chris Havel dropping back to fourth and Alex Buffington taking the fifth position.

Scott Pratt continued his dominance in the USRA Kile Motorsports Stock Cars. Pratt had his work cut out for him though as Doug Yates would run side-by-side with him for several laps. Finally by lap six Pratt would take over the lead and then the battle would be for second place as Greg Gill and Yates would battle for the runner up spot. The race would be red-flagged on lap nine when Marv Franklin would flip in turn one. Franklin was a little shaken but was ok. When the race resumed, Gill would try to get a run on Pratt but was unsuccessfull. Jerry Pratt would take advantage of the cautions as he moved into the third spot. Scott Pratt would go on to win his second feature in a row with Gill second, Jerry Pratt third, Jerrod Collins with an oustanding run coming all the way from the back to finish fourth and Yates hanging on to fifth place.

The Corner Tap Limited Late Models saw another first time winner in victory lane. Pole sitter Sam Harroun would not be denied the top spot even with sever challenges by Jesse Smith and Kyle Lackey in the early part of the race. By lap three, Matt Bodman had moved into the second spot and hounded Harroun for the remainer of the race but could not get enough momentum to get around Harroun. Harroun would win his first ever feature with Bodman settling for second, Troy Philpott moving into the third position, Dan Brockert fourth and out-side pole sitter Jesse Smith hanging on to fifth.

The USRA Miller Time Modifieds saw last years Track Champion Larry Herring taking home the win. Herring had a little work to do first however as Bruce Hanford and Rich Smith battle for the lead for several laps before Hanford had taken over the top spot. Hanford's lead was short lived however as Herring was on the move and would get past Hanford for the race lead. Once Herring got by Hanford, he disappeared as he would put a half a lap lead on second place runner Hanford.

Hanford also had a sizable lead on third place Robbie Verbeck. Scott Stecher had moved up to fourth place and ran down Verbeck but ran out of laps to take over third spot. Herring's dominate run would give him an easy victory with Hanford second, Verbeck third, Stecher fourth, and Rich Smith rounding out the top five.

Last but not least on the nights racing program was the JC Dubil Late Models which saw another dominating performace. Todd Davis took the early lead over Ron Boyse as they race through one and two side-by-side. By lap four, Brian Harris had move up to the third position with Davis still leading. By lap seven Harris had passed Davis for the race lead and once he did he started to pull away from the rest of the field. By mid-race Rob Moss had aslo gotten by Davis for second place along with Dave Eckrich a few laps later taking over third place.

With the laps winding down, Harris had pulled to a half a straight away lead over second place runner Moss. Harris crossed the finish line with a easy win. Moss would take home a distant second, Dave Eckrich third, Todd Davis fourth and Chad Simpson sneaking in to the top five.
