Iowa Speedway Announces 2006 Pre-Race Concert Schedule
NEWTON, IA (May 26, 2006) - Racing fans will see exciting racing this year at
Iowa Speedway - and also have an opportunity to watch major entertainers perform
their best music. Iowa Speedway officials today announced a 2006 Pre-Race
Concert Schedule that includes performing artists Neal McCoy, Josh Turner, Tracy
Lawrence and Trick Pony - tentatively slated to perform, respectively, on the
weekends of September 15-16 and October 14-15, 2006.
Iowa Speedway General Manager Todd Melfi says he's pleased with the concert
lineup and thinks racing fans will share his opinion, "Many who come to Iowa
Speedway simply to see racing will get more than they expected. Iowa Speedway
designed the track as a major entertainment venue and our concert schedule, tied
in with racing events, will provide our fans with a value-added experience that
will keep them wanting to come back".
Neal McCoy
Main Stage, 6:00pm, Friday, September 15, 2006
Neal McCoy, two-time "Entertainer of the Year" (TNN/Music City News), has three
platinum albums and one gold album on his wall, and is now head of 903 Music.
His latest release - That's Life - is a collection of honky-tonk anthems, tender
ballads, and good old American music. Songs like, "Billy's Got His Beer Goggles
On," and "Head South," will bring McCoy a step closer to his many fans, speaking
to them through songs that will mean as much to them as they do to him.
Josh Turner
Main Stage, 1:00pm, Sunday, September 17, 2006
New artists dream about the kind of results Josh Turner achieved with his 2003
debut, "Long Black Train". Spurred by its haunting, gospel-inflected title
track, the album sold a million copies and brought Turner a pair of nominations
from the influential Country Music Association, plus a Top New Artist nomination
from the Academy of Country Music. That debut, however, was merely a prelude.
Turner's sophomore project, "Your Man," demonstrates an increased maturity, a
better-honed sense of his strengths and a more specific portrait of the singer
as both an artist and a man.
Tracy Lawrence
Main Stage, 6:00pm, Saturday, October 14, 2006
Tracy Lawrence is one of the premier voices of his generation, a sensitive and
intelligent singer who continues to stretch both as an artist and as a person.
Lawrence's honesty and respect for tradition have enabled him to build one of
the most respected careers in recent country history. Tracy has posted more No.
1 Billboard country singles than greats like Glen Campbell, Keith Whitley,
Ernest Tubb, Wynonna or Barbara Mandrell, to name just a few; more Top 5's than
Shania Twain, Faith Hill or The Judds; and more Top 10's than Ricky Skaggs,
Charlie Rich, John Michael Montgomery or Dwight Yoakam.
Trick Pony
Main Stage, 12:00pm, Sunday, October 15, 2006
Trick Pony, America's most energetic, hard working, hard-core honky-tonk band,
will look fans straight in the eye with songs from their new album, "R.I.D.E."
Drawn together in ways that only the tightest of bands can understand, nobody
puts on a show like Trick Pony. With two albums under their belt they have
earned Awards from both Academy of Country Music and the American Music Awards.
Judging by the passion, pain, celebration and flat-out, honest-to-God country
soul of "R.I.D.E." and other music, they'll be doing it for a long, long time.
