JULY 29 WEST LIBERTY RACEWAY RESULTS
WEST LIBERTY, IA (July 29, 2006) - Ninety-two cars checked in to the pits at
West Liberty July 29 on a night that had the devil looking for a cool spot.
Trophies were sponsored by Precision Performance. The track became slick and
racy as the night progressed. Few cautions and a feature or two that went
flag-to-flag made for an early evening, with racing action completed at 9:15 PM.
The JC Dubil Late Models got off to a quick start as Kurt Kile slingshot his way
to the front from his second row starting spot. He had built a comfortable lead
over the second place car when a caution on lap 8 wiped it out. Matt Gilchrist
challenged for the lead on the restart and held it for a short time until being
overtaken by Andy Eckrich on lap 15. Once the lead was his, Andy never looked
back and cruised to victory. Gilchrist finished second, followed by Kurt Kile,
Nick Marolf and Jason Utter.
The Miller Time Modifieds were led early by pole sitter Mike Zogg, who led until
lap 5 when Bruce Hanford took the front spot. Hanford led the remaining 15 laps,
and was followed over the finish line by Larry Herring, Mike Zogg, Scott Stecher
and Terry Walker.
The Corner Tap Limited Late Models saw Brian Van Dusen assume the lead on lap 6
from his fourth row starting position when he made the pass on Ron Schreurs. The
bottom was working well for Van Dusen this night and he kept the top spot for
the rest of the race with Schreurs never far from his bumper. Rounding out the
top five were Troy Philpot, Tim Rock and John Maher.
The Kile Motorsports Stock Cars feature saw Scotty Pratt add another trophy to
his growing collection as he made the pass on Adam Bell on lap 2 and set sail
for victory. Bell finished second, with Jerry Pratt, Scott Walker and Greg Gill
rounding out the top five.
The QCSA Auto Auction Hornets had a new winner this week when Shaun Slaughter
encountered some problems early in the race on lap 2. Robert Harding Jr had the
lead when a caution on lap 6 brought the field back together. Jarrod McMichael
was able to make the pass on Harding and take the win.
