Jeremy Grady makes the pass on the final lap to become the
sixth different winner at The Hamilton County Speedway.
By: Ryan Bergeson
RADCLIFFE, IA (June 2) - Hagie Manufacturing Kids night provided a lot of
excitement this past Saturday night at The Hamilton County Speedway. Youngsters
from far and wide ventured to the Historic venue to watch an exciting night of
racing. The racing proved to be just a bonus for the kids as car rides, five
bicycles, candy and nickels were also given away on behalf of God Fathers Pizza,
Richardson Farms, Ferguson Motorsports, MyMedMart, K-Mart, and Pro Track
Promotions. Several drivers also donated their racing t-shirts to the young fans
including Roger Haupt Jr., Jeremy Ades, Mark Elliott, Jeremy Grady, Jason
Vansickel, Scott Olson, and Riley Larson.
The night was started off with the Performance Electric Hobby Stock class. Brad
Ratcliff would take the early lead around the speedway until he would be
challenged by Brandon Toftee. Toftee was able to take the lead but it would not
last long. Mark Haglund would make the charge to the front of the field and take
the lead from Toftee. Toftee would not give up easy but would be out of time
running down Haglund. Haglund would pick up the feature win followed by Toftee,
Kevin Schmauss, and Justin Ades.
The next feature event on the raceway would be the Conleys Trucking Limited
Modifieds. Roger Caguelin would take the early lead followed by Brett Moffitt.
Moffitt would try for several laps to run down Caquelin until he would be
challenged by Lettow. Lettow was able to make the move on the inside of the
racing surface and take over the second position. Lettow now would look to run
down Caquelin with 6 laps remaining. Roger Caquelin would protect the inside
groove of the speedway so Lettow would have try his luck high on the speedway.
Lettow would power the right rear against the cushion and take the lead exiting
turn two. Lettow would power to the race lead and eventually to the feature win.
Caquelin, Brett Moffitt, and Mike Giles would round out the top four cars.
The Modified division was next onto the speedway and Greg Elliott would flex his
muscle from start to finish. The Wild One was able to take the lead on the
opening lap and was simply uncatchable on this night. Greg Elliott would be
challanged by Jon Snyder early on until Elliott was able to power around Snyder
in the opening laps. Jon Snyder was able to hold on to the second position
followed by Jake Durbin, and Mark Elliott. Greg Elliott would pick up his first
feature win of the season at The Hamilton County Speedway.
The Motor Inn of Webster City IMCA Late Models were next to take center stage
and this one would go down to the wire. Entering the night there had been five
different feature winners in five nights of racing action for the Late Model
division. Ryan Griffith and Jeremy Grady would ensure the tradition would
continue on this night. From the drop of the green flag, Nick pederson would
take the early lead until a caution on lap five would realign the field. On the
restart, Ryan Griffith would shoot past Pederson bringing Jeremy Grady with him.
Ryan Griffith would open up a large margin around the half mile until lapped
traffic would play havoc with his lead on lap 21. Griffith and Grady were both
running the high line around the speedway but so was everyone else. When it came
time to work through the lapped traffic, someone had to shoot to the bottom to
look to advance. Griffith would power his car on the bottom of the speedway and
Grady would look to go high. They would drag race on the back shoot side by side
and coming off the final turn, Grady was able to make the pass and steal one
away on the final lap. Grady would pick up his first feature win of the season
at The Hamilton County Speedway and become the sixth different winner in six
nights of racing. Ryan Griffith would have his best run of the season at the
speedway finishing in the second position followed by Darrel DeFrance, and Adam
Larson.
Once again, the finale of the night would be the Neighbors Heating, Cooling, and
Plumbing Stock Cars. Paul Nagle would take the early lead in this one as he was
followed by Jon Byriel. Byriel would take a look to the inside to make the pass
for the lead but Lance Deal would power to the outside of the track and take the
second spot away. Nagle would hop over the cushion through the turn and Lance
Deal would pounce on his chance at capturing the lead. Deal would continue to
lead as Mitchell Griffith and Jason Wagoner would come to second and third
respectively. Mitchell Griffith would try the inside groove a time or two on the
inside of Deal but could not make it stick. Lance Deal would charge to the
feature win followed by Griffith, Wagoner, and jason Minnehan.

racing to follow. We’ll look forward to seeing you next Saturday night at The
