MCDANIEL AND PINKERTON TAKES SEASON OPENER
CHECKERS
By: Tony Paris
OSKALOOSA, Iowa (April12, 2006) - A beautiful night for racing action with warm
temps and hot action at the Southern Iowa Speedway with Brad Pinkerton of New
Sharon burning up the half-mile taking two out of three feature events on the
season opener. Pinkerton took checkers in both the USRA stock car and USRA Musco
Lighting Modified division and gained points in the Casey's General Stores USRA
National Points Championship.
The USRA hobby stock feature was won by Eldon racer Jason McDaniel who lead ten of the fifteen laps for the win holding off several challenges from Rick Landgrebe of Sigourney who tried several times to pass McDaniel but McDaniel`s car was to strong. Bobby Greene of Eddyville raced his way from eleventh to a second place finish with Landgebe taking third and last Saturday nights winner Nathan Wood of Sigourney took fourth after starting twentieth after mechanical problems in the heat race forced a deep start in the feature event.
The USRA Musco Lighting modified feature went twenty laps with
Pinkerton taking the checkers holding off Rick Gustin of Marshalltown who took
second with Terry Walker of Riverside taking third and local driver Steven
Blattler taking fourth after leading the first three. In the USRA stock car
division Pinkerton took the second set of checkers along with another trophy to
add to the collection after scoring his second win in the same night. Pinkerton
held off last years track champion T.J. Criss of Osakloosa who took second with
Osky driver Brian Edel passing Bobby Greiner Jr. of Ottumwa with two laps togo
for third and Greiner in fourth.
