BLATTLER SCORES FIRST AT HOME TRACK AND SECOND OF YEAR

OSKALOOSA, IA (July 19, 2006) - Racing action at the Southern Iowa
Speedway was sponsored by Eric Palmer Night at the races with four classes in
action with the Nostalgic Stock Car Club of Iowa on hand with cars from the 60`s
and seventys and even a 57 chevy in action. This was the first time at Oskaloosa
for this group and it brought back memories and was a very good experience for
the young and old on this night with the young drivers getting to see history
and older race fans remembering the past.
In the first feature event it was the USRA Stock Cars in action for eighteen
laps and Brian Mitrisin of Oskaloosa leading all eighteen laps for his second
win of the 2006 season. The battle for second was a thriller with three drivers
all battling for the second spot with rachels taking second from Colt Mather on
the white flag lap with Mather in third and Pinkerton taking fourth.
The second feature was the Nostalgic Stock Car Club of Iowa in action for twelve
laps with Jim Clayton taking the checkers in a 1966 Mercury Comet leading all
twelve laps with a good battle between Brad Huff and Jamie Huff battling for
second with Brad taking second in a 1964 chevelle and Jamie in a 1970 chevy nova
along with Rob Koopman taking fourth in the Curt Hansen look alike car a 1968
chevy chevelle.
In the third feature it was the fifteen lap Musco Lighting USRA Modified feature
with Steven Blattler taking his first win at the Southern Iowa Speedway and
second in 2006. Blattler held off the always tough Brad Pinkerton of New Sharon
who took second with two Washington drivers battling for third and Brandon Banks
took third after working his way from thirteenth passing Steve Stewart with five
laps remaining. Stewart took the fourth position.
The final feature was the USRA Hobby Stocks in action for fifteen laps and Bobby
Greene of Eddyville took the eraly race lead and lead till lap three befor
Nathan Wood took the lead and never looked back leading the final twelve laps
for the win. Greene tried several times to put pressure on Wood but settled for
second followed by last weeks winner Mike Shelton who took third after starting
tenth and fourth going to Chase Mitrisin of Oskaloosa.
Next week will be the 2006 Southern Iowa Fair races on Tuesday night July 25th
with the long awaited return of the Late Models after four years of waiting it
will pay $2000 to win and $200 to start along with the USRA Stock Cars and USRA
Hobby Stocks in action. The Wednesday night program will feature kids night
sponsored by KBOE 104.9Fm of Oskaloosa with all three classes in the Casey`s
General Stores Weekly Racing Series with hot laps at 7:15pm and racing to follow
around 7:30pm each night for the 2006 Southern Iowa Fair in Oskaloosa.
