By: Tony Paris
OSKALOOSA, IA (Aug. 16, 2006) - The Casey`s General Store Weekly Racing
Series was in action with only three regular point night counting tonights
action. The USRA Stock Car feature along with the Musco Lighting USRA Modified
feature went to Brad Pinkerton of New Sharon with Nathan Wood of Keswick taking
the USRA Hobby Stock Feature. Both drivers are the current point leaders and
helped extend the point lead in all three classes.
In the first feature of the night the USRA Stock Car feature went fiftenn laps with trouble on the second lap with the red flag stopping the action when Colt Mathers transmission would lockup going into turn one sending the car sliding into the wall and bouncing off sending it down the racetrack collectiong the 29 machine of Matt Greiner causing Greiner`s machine to get upside down and blocking the race track. Both drivers walked away unhurt but both cars had heavy damage. On the restart Brian Mitrisin of Oskaloosa would lead the field till the thirteenth lap of the fifteen lap feature befor Brad Pinkerton would close the six car lenght gap and make the pass with only two laps remaining and take the win. Mitrisin would take second with Nathan Wood of Keswick in third and Steve Landgrebe of Oskaloosa in fourth.
The Musco Lighting USRA Modified feature was all Brad Pinkerton who out classed the field with the 17p Skyrocket chassie. The battle for the second spot was a thriller with Danny Fetters of Montour and Brandon Banks of Washington swapping the second spot several times with Fetters finally taking second when the checkers flew with Banks in third and Terry Walker of Riverside taking the fourth spot after starting eight.
Our final feature of the night was the USRA Hobby Stock feature with Wade Francis of Eddyville leading all but the last two laps and was the bridesmaid to Nathan Wood who passed Francis going into turn one with only two laps remaining to pickup feature win number twenty-three of the year. Wood worked his way from the twenty first starting spot after spinning on lap one and was able to catch a couple cautions to help his run to the front. Francis took the second spot with Bobby Greene of Eddyville taking third and Rick Landgrebe of Sigourney taking fourth.
Next weeks racing action will feature kid`s night at the Southern Iowa
Speedway with hot laps at 7:15pm and racing action to follow at around 7:30pm.
