MAHLSTEDT SWEEPS 16TH ANNUAL MUSCO LIGHTING FALL CHALLENGE AT

OSKALOOSA, IA (Sept 16) - The 16th annual MUSCO Lighting Fall Challenge was held
Friday night and Sunday afternoon due to rain on Saturday night forcing R L
Promotions to run the finals on Sunday at 2:30pm with a beautiful sunny sky and
temps in the 70's it made for a awsome show.
Bobby Greiner Jr. of Ottumwa walked away with the stock car victory with Bill
Gibson of Knoxville taking the hobby stock feature and Ken Bryant of Ottumwa
taking the B-modified feature win and Dean Mahlstedt of Clear Lake taking the
modified feature win. Mahlstedt made it a clean sweep with Friday nights
checkers going to him with Mark Haugland of Willimas taking the win in the hobby
stock preliminary feature. In the B-modified preliminary feature the defending
champion Matt Lettow of Roland took the win and the stock car preliminary
feature going to Nathan Wood of Keswick.
On Sunday afternoon Bobby Greiner Jr. of Ottumwa passed Nathan Wood of Keswick
for the win on the 17th lap of the 20 lap main event with Wood taking second
followed by Matt Greiner of Washington in third and Malcom Teachout of Granada,
Mn. taking the fourth spot.
The B-modified feature saw Cory Brown of Ottumwa take the lead and pace the field till lap nine before caution would close the field up with Ken Bryant of Ottumwa making the pass on lap 11 and drove to victory lane with Brown taking second and Paul Underwood also from Ottumwa in third and Andrew Schroeder of Keswick taking fourth.
The hobby stock feature saw three drivers battle for the lead with Bill Gibson Mark Hauglan and Chris Hovden all battle for the lead with Gibson taking the lead on lap 7 and held off several challenges to take the win. Haglund took second followed by Nathan Wood taking fourth. The final feature of the day was the $2000 to win modified main event and this race capped off the 2007 season with six diffrent leaders and many flat tires the fans got to see drivers from the age of 16 to 55 years of age going to battle for the title and the cash.
The feature come down to a green, white and checker finish with Dean
Mahlstedt of Clear Lake driving the bullett 21M to victory lane for the second
straight time. Mark Noble of Blooming Prairie, Mn. taking second followed by Ron
Verbeek of Oskaloosa in third and Bruce Hanford in fourth.
