“CREAM OF THE CROP” TO BATTLE AT SOUTHERN IOWA SPEEDWAY’S 22ND ANNUAL MUSCO LIGHTING FALL CHALLENGE

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (Sept.8) – With the weekly racing program wrapped up, officials from the Southern Iowa Speedway are readying one final extravaganza to end the 2008 season with a bang.

The racetrack will be idle until Friday and Saturday, Oct.
10-11 when Mahaska County Half-Mile Monster comes alive for the 22nd Annual MUSCO Lighting Fall Challenge with more than $40,000 up for grabs.

The event will feature the “cream of the crop” in all four USRA-sanctioned classes—Modifieds, Stock Cars, B-Mods and Hobby Stocks—with a twist on the payoff that will see the cream rise to the top in each division as each of the four classes will race for $1,000 to win on Friday and each will race for $1,500 to win on Saturday!

“Each of these classes bring a unique brand of excitement to our fans, and drivers in each class show a level of professionalism and skill that is unsurpassed at any other track in the State,” said promoter Todd Staley.
“Regardless of the division they race in, most drivers put in an equal amount of time and effort in preparing their cars and bringing fans to the track, so we wanted to show the same respect to those that reach the top of their game, whichever flavor their game might be.”

The 22nd Annual MUSCO Lighting Fall Challenge will feature some of the best drivers and teams that each division has to offer, and the fans will get to enjoy a complete show each night. All drivers in each class will draw each night for heat race starting positions.

On Friday night, grandstands will open for at 5:30, with hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30. On Saturday, gates open at 5, hot laps are at 6 and the mud starts flying at 6:30.
All seats are general admission Camping sites with hook-ups are available at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds.

There is no USRA license requirement to compete in this blockbuster event, but licensed drivers will be racing for national points on the final night of points in 2008 for the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series.
