GREINER TAKES THRILLER WIN AT SIS IN STOCK CAR DIVISION
By: Tony Paris
OSKALOOSA, IA (July 29) - Racing action for Wild Wednesday at Southern Iowa
Speedway was held with the young race fans getting a chance to ride around
the speedway along with prizes, candy, money and even a chance to win a
bicycle.
In the Carter Manufacturing USRA b-mods saw Jason McDaniel and Cayden
Carter battle for the win. Carter tried several times to get a run or do a
slide job on McDaniel but McDaniel was just to strong and took his eight win
of the year. Carter took a strong second with Tyler Groenendyk taking the
third spot with Mike Shelton in fourth.
The second feature of the night was the thriller with license to thrill
night for the Ottumwa area and fans got everything they expected and much
more. The USRA stock cars feature is always a exciting race no matter how
many cars they have it`s always a thriller. All three drivers all wanted the
top spot with Mike VanGenderen of Newton taking the early lead but shortly
after the third lap VanGenderen had to try to hold off the silver 29 of Matt
Greiner of Washington who made a two car battle but action would heat up
with Shane Weller of Agency who won last week starting eighth and make it a
three car battle. The three would swap the lead with nobody knowing who was
going to win. The crowd came to there feet on the final lap with all three
side-by-side and Greiner taking the win by less than six inches with
VanGenderen in second and Weller in a close third and Brian Mitrisin in
fourth.
The USRA hobby stock feature went to Kris Walker of Oskaloosa who lead all
fifteen laps. This was Walkers 101st feature win of his career. Bobby green
of Eddyville tried several time to pressure Walker but took a close second
place finish with Danny thrasher of Agency in third and Nathan Wood of
Keswick taking fourth.
The MUSCO Lighting USRA a-mods saw Zack Vanderbeek use this week as a
tune-up for the USMTS and Nascar Night leading all fifteen laps and taking
the win.
This ended Brad Pinkertons win streak with Pinkerton taking second and Colt
Mather of Webster in third. The battle for fourth was a good one with Steven
Blattler of Oskaloosa and Indianola driver Josh Truman going wheel-to-wheel
with Blattler in fourth.
Next week’s Nascar night will feature Kenny Wallace in the Jegs 36 modified
and Michael Waltrip who races the NAPA 55 Toyota who is the team owner and
driver. Action will kickoff at 7:15Pm and racing action to follow.
