OSKALOOSA, Iowa (June 1) –
USRA Weekly Racing Series action resumed Wednesday night at the Southern
Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, featuring Musco USRA Modifieds, USRA Karl
Chevrolet Stock Cars, Carter’s Manufacturing USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby
Stocks on Casey’s General Stores Night.
Kris Walker of Oskaloosa
topped the USRA Hobby Stock main event as he held off eighth-starting Nick
Ulin of Agency. Third went to Steve Allen of Oskaloosa, fourth was Donavon
Nunnikhoven of Sully and the fifth spot went to Calvin Dhondt of Kellogg.
Oskaloosa’s Cayden Carter
started on the outside of the front row and went on to capture the checkers
in the Carter’s Manufacturing USRA B-Mod feature race over polesitter Carter
VanDenBerg of Oskaloosa. Last week’s winner, Bill Gibson of Knoxville, wound
up third after starting tenth while Keswick’s Andrew Schroeder started 12th
and finished fourth. Curtis Van Der Wahl of Oskaloosa rounded out the top
five.
Shane Weller of Agency made it
two wins in as many nights as he scored the victory in the USRA Karl
Chevrolet Stock Car “A” Main despite starting eighth. Tom Killen of Des
Moines held off Webster City’s Todd Staley for the runner-up position,
Nathan Wood of Keswick was fourth and Kyle Harwood of Oskaloosa took fifth.
Colt Mather of Webster also
started eighth and also backed up his win from two weeks ago in the Musco
USRA Modified main event. Polesitter Scott Dickey of Packwood held on for
the runner-u paycheck, followed by Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon, defending
track champion Steven Blattler of Oskaloosa and Ron Ver Beek of Oskaloosa.
All four divisions will be
back in action next Wednesday, June 8, for round 3 of the USRA Weekly Racing
Series at the Mahaska County Monster. Pits open at 5 p.m., grandstands open
at 5:30, hot laps begin at 7:15 and racing starts at 7:30.
The Southern Iowa Speedway is
a half-mile semi-banked clay oval located 0.5 mile west of US 63 on SR 92,
