By Jack Walbring

QUINCY, ILL. (July 23, 2006) - Toland made the long pull from Bettendorf, Iowa to take on the Budweiser IMCA Late Model field at Quincy and found the bottom of the track very much to his liking. Toland started the thirty lap main event from the outside of row six and worked his way into the lead on the thirteenth circuit. Toland maintained a comfortable margin throughout the rest of the event as he stayed on the low groove except to pass slower traffic. Mark Burgtorf pulled into the second spot on the twenty sixth lap and set his sights on Toland but was unable to get any closer than two car lengths at the checkered flag and had to settle for the second spot. Matt Bailey grabbed third with Joey Gower in fourth and Billy Genenbacher in fifth. Jason Perry, Jerry Weisenberger and Genenbacher took the heat race wins with Denny Woodworth claiming the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Henry DeLonjay took the lead away from Jim Roach on the thirteenth lap of the caution filled Miller Lite IMCA Modified twenty lap main event and went on to claim his fifth feature win of the season. DeLonjay took the checkered flag ahead of Robbie Reed, Jim Roach, BrandonLennox and Roger Moser. Reed, Lennox and Ted Allen were the heat race winners with Jeff Waterman claiming the hardware in the P&S Auto and Truck Collision Repair Trophy Dash.

Jarrod Richie made it two feature wins in a row in the Bomber division. Rickhie started the main event in the fifth row and took over the top spot on only the second lap after the first of many yellow flags jumbled up the running order on the first lap. Richie then survived innumerable restarts to claim the his second win in a row over Steve Carlin, Todd Reichert, Adam Birck and Jerry Jansen. Larry Powell, Dusty Bingaman and Reichert were the heat race winners.

Sarah Woodhurst is making a habit of winning the Hornet division features as she claimed her fourth feature win of the season, her second in a row. Woodhurst battled with Darren Morgan over the opening laps of the fifteen lapper but pulled away for the win as Morgan had to defend his second place spot with James Leffew and Steven DeLonjay until the checkered flag fell. Morgan settled for second behind Woodhurst with Leffew in third, DeLonjay in fourth and Levi Long in fifth. Morgan took the heat race win.
