McLaughlin promoted to first in opening night Deery Series
feature at Quincy
QUINCY, Ill. (April 17) – Two days after the checkered flag flew, Boone
McLaughlin was promoted to first place in the Deery Brothers Summer Series main
event at Quincy Raceway.
McLaughlin led much of the last half of Sunday’s series opening 40- lapper for
IMCA Sunoco Late Models, finally giving way to Mark Burgtorf with four circuits
left. The top six finishing cars underwent extensive post-race inspection; IMCA
officials announced Tuesday that unapproved alterations had been made to a spec
cylinder head in Burgtorf’s engine, resulting in his disqualification.
Denny Woodworth set the fast pace early on and ended up with second place money.
Rob Toland, Terry Schlipman and Mark Preston rounded out the top five.
Three races are on the series slate this weekend, Friday at Davenport, Iowa,
Speedway, Saturday at Jack son County Speedway in Maquoketa, Iowa, and Sunday at
Quad City Raceway in East Moline.
