Deery Series heads to Quincy, Boone for Sept. 2-3 doubleheader
QUINCY, Ill. (Aug. 28) – With just three points separating the first and second
place drivers in tour standings, the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA
Sunoco Late Models heads into the homestretch with a weekend doubleheader at
Quincy Raceway and Boone Speedway.
Jeremy Grady of Story City holds the slim advantage over Marshalltown’s Darrel
DeFrance going into the Sunday, Sept. 2 twinbill lidlifter at Quincy. The series
then travels to Boone for opening night action during the IMCA Speedway Motors
Super Nationals on Monday, Sept. 3.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. at Quincy, with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 6:30
p.m. Boone opens the gates at 10 a.m., with hot laps at 4 p.m. and racing at 5
p.m.
The 21st annual tour concludes Friday and Saturday, Sept. 14-15 with the 100
lap, $10,000 to win Pepsi USA Nationals at 34 Raceway in West Burlington.
Grady owns three wins through the first 12 series events. DeFrance won the most
recent race, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway in Des Moines on Aug. 13,
and has been a model of consistency throughout the year with a pair of runner-up
showings and no finish lower than ninth place.
He’s also guaranteed a starting spot in all three remaining main events, having
yet to take a provisional start. Grady used a provisional to get in the feature
field at Des Moines.
Boone McLaughlin of Mediapolis has 515 points, 40 out of a tie for first. Terry
Neal of Ely is fourth in the standings with 486 points and Andy Nezworski of
Buffalo is fifth with 479.
