Warner, Long, Oliver and Brocksieck Take Quincy Checkers By Jack Walbring QUINCY, ILL (April 27) - Robbie Warner took advantage of his pole position draw for the Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature event as he led every lap of the thirty lapper. Warner first held off Denny Woodworth for the lead over the first nineteen circuits when a caution flag for Dustin Griffin brought the field back into contact with the leaders. Joey Gower then put the pressure on Woodworth and got by for the second spot on the twenty third lap and then set his sights on Warner but was unable to close the gap with Warner winning at the checkered flag by two and a half seconds. Woodworth held on for third followed by Dustin Neese in fourth and Lonnie Bailey in fifth. Justin Reed, Bailey and Gower were the heat race winners with Woodworth claiming the hardware in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash. The Miller Lite Modified main event had problems getting started as four caution flags in the first four laps slowed the action. Michael Long used the yellow flags to his advantage as progressed from his fourth row starting spot into the lead on the fifth lap to continue his reign over the rest of the modifieds at Quincy. Long then proceeded to stay out of trouble and ended up with almost a four second victory, his third of the season at Quincy. Wyatt Lance tried in vain to run down Long but had to settle for the second spot followed by Tony Dunker in third, Steven DeLonjay in fourth and Brandon Lennox in fifth. Jeff Waterman, Long and Dunker were the heat race winners with Long also taking the checkered flag in the Advance Trading Trophy Dash. The Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Car division has been dominated by the more experienced stock car veterans who normally race at Lee County Speedway and 34 Raceway so far in the inaugural season at Quincy Raceways. John Oliver Jr. of Danville, Ia. won his first IMCA Stock Car feature event at Quincy but one of the rookies in the division made some noise as Steve Steinkuhler battled for the lead for several laps then held off the rest of the field to take the second spot. Abe Huls scored the third position followed by Jeff Mueller in fourth and Doug Huls in fifth. Mueller and Oliver were the heat race winners. The Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stock main event was a wild one with Steve Carlin and Bobby Anders putting on quite a battle for the lead with both serving time in the top spot for the first seventeen laps of the twenty lap race until mild contact on the eighteenth lap caused both Carlin and Anders to spin out in front of the field in turn four. Aaron Brocksieck then took advantage of the situation on the restart and held off James Leffew to take his first win of the 2008 season. Leffew settled for second with Wes Mayfield in third, Chad Cannady in fourth. Bobby Anders and Steve Carlin rallied from the back of the pack after the caution to take fifth and sixth. Carlin and Cory Eifert took the heat race wins. Quincy Raceways has a busy schedule for this next week and the Deery
