By Jack Walbring

QUINCY, IL (June 21) - Jason Frankel, Wyatt Lantz, Steve Steinkuhler, and James Leffew all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, June 21 during Ursa Farmers Coop Night at the Races.

Robbie Warner looked real strong during the opening laps of the Budweiser IMCA Late Model main event as he pulled out to a very substantial lead but Jason Frankel was on a mission to get to the lead. Frankel slowly closed the gap to Warner from lap nine to lap 21 and got the lead after contact between the two on lap twenty two sent Frankel into the lead. Matt Bailey tried in vain to catch Frankel but had to settle for the second spot, over five seconds back. Jerry Weisenberger held back Justin Reed for third followed by Mark Burgtorf in fifth. Frankel and Warner were the heat race winners with Billy Genenbacher taking the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Wyatt Lantz made it two in a row in the Miller Lite UMP Modified division by leading the final nineteen laps of the time limited main event. Lantz held off Tony Dunker by half a second, followed by Robbie Reed in third, Justin Reed in fourth and Steven DeLonjay in fifth. Lantz, Robbie Reed and Trent Grotz took the heat race wins while Steven DeLonjay took the win in the Advance Trading Trophy Dash Series.

“Scuba” Steve Steinkuhler has begun to shake off his early season mechanical problems and it showed Sunday night as Steinkuhler got his first Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Car feature event win. Steinkuhler led the final fifteen circuits of the twenty lap main event and held both Terry Houston and Abe Huls at bay to take the big win. Huls had to settle for second followed by Jerry Jansen in third, Kevin Tomlinson in fourth and John Oliver Jr. in fifth. Steinkuhler and Levi Long were the heat race winners.

Steven Watkins Jr. looked to well on his way to his first feature win of the season in the Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stock feature event but it just was not going to go his way as fought his way to the lead from his third row starting spot on the eleventh lap of the 20 lapper. Watkins battled to try to take the top spot back until a lap eighteen caution flag saw him pit to replace a flat tire. Steve Carlin then challenged Leffew the final two laps but had to settle for second followed by Travis Booher in third, Jim Powell in fourth and Wes Mayfield in fifth. Carlin and Leffew were the heat race winners.
