QUINCY, IL (July 26) - Matt Bailey, Steven DeLonjay, Kevin Tomlinson and Tanner Klingele all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, July 26 during Heetco Night at the Races. Joey Gower grabbed the lead on the second lap of the thirty lap Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature event and looked like he was going to cruise to his first feature win of the season but Matt Bailey had a different idea. Bailey worked his way through the field from his fourth row starting spot to challenge Gower over the final few laps of the feature that went from green flag to checkered flag without a caution flag. Bailey slipped past Gower to take the lead going to the white flag and managed to hang on for a victory margin of only .251 of a second. Bailey’s win was his third of the season as Gower settled for the second spot followed by Billy Genenbacher in third, Dustin Neese in fourth and Mark Burgtorf in fifth. Clint Kirkham and Nick Ingalls were the heat race winners while Dustin Griffin took the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash Series. Lonnie Bailey sports a five point advantage over Justin Reed in points battle. Twenty Eight Miller Lite UMP Modifieds checked in for the evenings modified mayhem. Steven DeLonjay redrew the pole position for the twenty five lap feature event and he made good use of it as he lead every lap of the time limited nineteen lapper. Justin Reed tried every line that was available on the track to overtake DeLonjay but had to settle for the second spot by six tenths of a second when the checkered flag flew. Vance Wilson claimed third, followed by Tony Dunker in fourth and Donovan Lodge in fifth. Robbie Reed, Jared Schlipman and Ronnie Wood were the heat race winners with Jason Daggs laying claim to the B-Main win. Tony Dunker won the Advance Trading Trophy Dash event. Justin Reed now holds a fifty seven point margin over DeLonjay in the points race. Michael Larsen led the first fifteen laps of the Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Car main event but Kevin Tomlinson pulled into the lead on the sixteenth circuit and held Doug Huls at bay until the checkered flag came out on lap twenty. Larsen held on for third followed by Chris Wibbell in fourth and Abe Huls in fifth. Larsen and Doug Huls were the heat race winners. Tomlinson and Abe Huls are now tied for the points lead at 470 points. Fourteen year old Tanner Klingele took the lead of the Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stock main event from his outside front row starting spot and looked good to take his first ever feature win but Bobby Anders got past Klingele on lap sixteen and crossed the finish line in first place, but the finish was not quite over until post race inspection was completed. Anders engine was determined to have illegal cylinder heads and the feature event win was awarded to Klingele. The second spot went to Nathan Hayes, third to Adam Scott, fourth to Wes Mayfield and fifth to Mike Wiley. Klingele and Hayes were the heat race winners. Wes Mayfield now holds a single point advantage over Steve Carlin as the racing season keeps getting shorter.
