Inaugural Quincy Event Looms for Sprint Invaders
By Jake Croxton
BURLINGTON, Iowa (June 1, 2006) – A two and a half week layoff is nearing
completion for the 360 Sprint Car throttle-jockeys of the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint
Invaders. The series is gearing up for its first-ever visit to the tight ¼-mile
Quincy Raceway and a return visit to 34 Raceway. The Quincy and Burlington
events will mark rounds six and seven on the 22-race agenda, which has seen four
different winners to open the series’ Fifth Anniversary season.
“We are excited to have sprints back in Quincy,” commented Quincy Raceways’ Jeff
Scott back in January. “Lots of fans have asked to bring them back, so we
brought them back.” The event will mark the first time Sprint Cars have graced
the Quincy facility since the Illinois / Missouri Challenge event four seasons
ago.
Korey Weyant holds a ten-point advantage heading into Quincy. The Springfield,
Ill. driver owns three top fives in four feature event starts, with a best
finish of second at Lincoln Speedway – another ¼-mile oval. Matt Sutton looks to
rebound after a 20th place showing at Lee County Speedway. Rager Phillips joined
Sutton as the series’ second first-time winner at the Donnellson fairgrounds.
Another twenty-six points back is Stronghurst, Illinois’ Brian Hetrick. Ryan
Jamision, the 2002 Sprint Invaders titlist, sits in fourth ahead of Burlington,
Iowa veteran Dave Anderson.
The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders will travel to Memphis, MO on June 20th for
a Tuesday night date with the Scotland County Fair before embarking on a
five-race Independence Day swing over nine days. For more information, enter
