Jerrod Hull pads all-time Invaders win-lead with 34 Raceway
Triumph
By Jake Croxton
WEST BURLINGTON, IA (July 3, 2006) – Sikeston, Missouri pilot Jerrod Hull worked
the hammer-down 3/8-mile at 34 Raceway to perfection and claimed his second win
of 2006 in his H&H Enterprises / Midland Performance / Red Brick Transportation
/ Avenger / Wesmar. The victory was Hull’s tenth Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invader
A-Feature win of his career, tops among all drivers.
“This is a real good organization with a lot of tough competition,” stated Hull.
“To be the all-time win leader is a tremendous accomplishment…Scott Bonar had it
going around the corners basically wide-open. I never hardly had to lift. I have
to thank him for making the cars run and making my job easy.”
Rager Phillips was the man to beat early on in the JD Byrider 25. Phillips won
the battle to turn one around pole-starter Hull and led the opening eight laps,
before lapped traffic came into play.
“It was pretty quick the whole night until the end,” admitted Phillips. “I got
hung up in lapped traffic. About the first seven cars were all strung out and
the rest of them were all wadded up in the middle. You just kind of had to
battle your way through…the 94 went straight through and I got hung up there.
(Hull) was able to pull of the win and (we) were just kind of hung out to dry
back there.”
“The lapped traffic really played in our favor,” continued Hull. “The car was
working really nice and I was looking forward to the traffic.” Hull led the
final 17 circuits, and won by nearly a straightaway over Phillips and Bobby
Mincer.
“I feel pretty good about third,” said the 2004 Champion Mincer. “It was a fast
track and it was going to be hard to pass. We ran hard and I did the very best
we could…I definitely want to win, but if we keep racing the way we have and
keep our heads on straight, I think it’s going to come.”
With many of the Invaders competitors with limited half-mile experience, Mincer
was asked if he had an advantage headed into West Liberty.
“Maybe a little bit, but everybody runs pretty good everywhere we race. I don’t
know if that really gives me an up on anybody, but it’s basically do the best we
can, make the car right and go to the front.”
Jayson Ditsworth brought out the first caution on lap 9 after a career-best
second-place effort in the Mike Campbell’s Body Shop & Towing Shake-Up Dash. The
only other on-track skirmish necessitated a red flag for Nick Eastin’s mishap in
turn four.
Chris Urish beat Bobby Hawks to the line to take fourth, while substitute-driver
Matt Rogerson, Jeff Mitrisin, Ryan Jamison, Josh Schneiderman, and Manny
Rockhold completed the top 10.
Ryan Jamison closed to within 18 points of leader Matt Sutton heading into the
West Liberty event on July 4th. The Sprint Invaders / Open Late Model
double-header will kick off at 6 p.m. with fireworks to follow.
