2006 is No More: Sprint Invaders begin prep for Sixth Season
By Jake Croxton
BURLINGTON, IA (Nov. 13, 2006) – Ryan Jamison sat at the head table
during the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders year-ending banquet. In all, $36,000
in cash and contingency awards were distributed among 22 owners and 20 drivers.
An emotional Jamison hoisted his second series trophy before being inducted into
the SIA Hall of Fame. The Mediapolis, Iowa, veteran has been a series mainstay
since the first event in May 2002 at Jacksonville, Ill. Jamison has participated
in all 62 SIA events, including 59 of 60 A-Features. He picked up his first
career series win in late-July at Peoria.
GRIT Motorsports’ outstanding season did not go un-noticed. Sutton, who was also
in the field for the first SIA event, took home hardware for Driver of the Year,
Owner of the Year, and Mechanic of the Year. The GRIT Motorsports team earned
its initial three tour victories in 2006.
The association would like to extend gratitude to all who participated in 2006,
from contingency and event sponsors to promoters, fans, and race teams.
In other news, the Sprint Invaders Benevolent Society (SIBS) will hold a general
membership meeting on Saturday, November 18, at Heartland Harley-Davidson in
Burlington. Everyone is invited to bring positive ideas to the 1 p.m. meeting.
The year-old organization will elect new officers for the upcoming season. While
attendance is strongly suggested, it is not mandatory to apply for a Board
position. Heartland Harley-Davidson is located on Roosevelt Avenue next to
Wendy’s.
