John Hall competes with American Sprint Cars on Tour
by: Stacy Ervin

MARION, IOWA (June 20, 2008) - A strong run against some big competition could signal a good turning point for John Hall and the Left Turn Enterprises racing team. The veteran driver was back in action at the Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Friday, June 20, when the Sprint Car Capitol of the World hosted the national American Sprint Cars on Tour series.

After taking time during the previous week to let his crew work hard at correcting some of the motor and brake issues which have plagued them all season, the Marion, Iowa, driver was ready to run with over 50 of the best 360 sprint-car drivers in the country. And though the end results didn't really show it, the hard work paid off greatly.

It was apparent that many of the mechanical problems were solved right off the bat, when Hall posted hot-lap times which put him third fastest out of the 17 competitors in the first two sessions. The track was faster for drivers in the final sessions, so when all 52 competitors had warmed up, Hall was still in 31st place.

A good draw for starting position found Hall third on the grid for his heat race. A strong start when the race went green gave him the momentum to finish in second place behind the night's eventual A-Main winner, Jason Johnson. The pace set by Johnson, one of the touring drivers, was a new track record for eight laps in the 360 division and Hall was not far behind at the checkered flag.

After all the heat races had been completed, the top 16 drivers in a point system based on passing and finish points were locked into the night's main event. Hall barely missed the redraw for starting position among the top eight drivers, racing off from 10th place. However, the speedway was also hosting a large event for midget race cars on this night and with so many cars on the track, the dirt surface changed dramatically. A missed setup on the car for the main event found Hall struggling with the handle and he ended his night after eight of the scheduled 25 laps and was credited with a 22nd place finish out of 24 competitors in the main.

Following the strong showing, the crew will be looking to get back into full swing on Saturday, June 28, when the Knoxville Championship Cup Series has its Mid-Season Championship. The car is owned by Charles and Doris Hall. Crew members are Darrell Bonesteel, Cole Page, Cass Page and Steve Lindell.

Sponsors include Maxim Racing, Parker Engines, APC Emmert Metal Fabricators, Super Shox, Chalk Stix Torsion Bars, Marion Dairy Queen, Brake Man Brake Systems, Thompson Aero Service and Seal-It International.

The team is actively seeking additional funding to help with its racing effort.
