Twin Features Night a learning experience for John Hall
by: Stacy Ervin

MARION, IOWA (July 5)-John Hall and the Left Turn Enterprises racing team turned a disappointing finish into a learning experience on Saturday, July 5, when the Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, hosted its annual Twin Features Night.

Hall's luck in the draw for starting position improved this week when he picked the third spot in his heat race. However, the track conditions weren't in his favor and he crossed the line in the seven-lap race in sixth spot. He was actually credited with a fifth-place finish, though, when a car in front of him was disqualified for not using the specified tire.

Unfortunately, the points Hall accumulated weren't quite enough to make the top 16 of the night's 33 competitors and he was forced to run the B-Main. Starting from the fourth spot in that race, he made a few good moves early on but began to slip backwards in the middle of the race. He pulled in on the eighth lap of the 10-lap race and was credited with a 13th place finish.

That meant he did not make the transfer into the night's twin 12-lap A-Mains, but the crew used that time as a learning experience to watch how other cars and drivers dealt with the ever-changing dirt surface.

The team plans to be in action again on Saturday, July 12, when Knoxville hosts its annual Marion County Fair Night, and again on Sunday, July 13, when the Sprint Invaders series comes to the Cedar County Fair in Tipton, Iowa.

The car is owned by Charles and Doris Hall. Crew members are Darrell Bonesteel, Cole Page, Cass Page and Steve Lindell.

Sponsors include Maxim Racing, Parker Engines, APC Emmert Metal Fabricators, Super Shox, Chalk Stix Torsion Bars, Marion Dairy Queen, Brake Man Brake Systems, Thompson Aero Service and Seal-It International.

The team is actively seeking additional funding to help with its racing effort.
