MILLSTADT, IL (January 30) - The O’Reilly POWRi National Midget Series will open up its fifth season of sanctioning midget racing at the Southern Illinois Center in Duquoin, IL at the “Mini Magic Mile” on Saturday March 28th. This will kick off the point chase with 2008 series champion Brett Anderson defending his title. The schedule consists of 33 dates with 29 of those being points paying events. Belle –Clair Speedway and Macon Speedway will host the POWRi Midgets four times each while Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, IL will host the mighty midgets five times. On July 4th POWRi will return to Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN with the MSCS Sprints. Five new venues highlight the schedule with visits to Highland Speedway in Highland, IL, 24 Raceway in Moberly, MO, LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, IL, US 36 Raceway in Cameron, MO and Butler County Motorplex in Rising City, NE. The US 36 Raceway event and the Butler County Motorplex event will both be part of the Midget Money Week. Midget Money Week will begin Sunday July 26th at US 36, Monday July 27th at Butler County Motorplex and July 28th and 29th at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE for the Cornhusker Midget Challenge. These four events will be co-sanctioned by the Southern Midget Racing Series (SMRS) and the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association (RMMRA). The season will wrap up with the 2nd annual Gold Crown Midget Nationals at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL. This event will be co-sanctioned with the United States Auto Club (USAC). The Gold Crown Midget Nationals will begin on Wednesday October 7th with practice; October 8th and 9th will be prelim nights and Saturda O’Reilly POWRi 2009 National Midget Schedule Date Track City, State Size
