by: Bill Wright
BURLINGTON, IA (Feb 6, 2009) – The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint
Invaders Association has announced their schedule. Twenty events are
scheduled for 2009, including 17 point shows. The series will celebrate its
eighth year of existence, kicking off the season April 3 at the Morgan
County Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois, and ending with Season
Championship Night at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.
Following the season opener in Jacksonville, the series travels to 34
Raceway on Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18. There, the First Annual
running of the Spring Nationals will commence. The two-night event will kick
off the sprint car racing season in Iowa promising a bigger purse ($2500 to
Saturday's winner), and a healthy car count!
A pair of Friday shows in May are slated for Jacksonville (May 15) and CJ
Raceway in Columbus Junction, Iowa (May 22). Saturday, June 6, the series
returns to 34 Raceway, before a Sunday, June 28, date on the high-banked
Quad City Raceway in East Moline, Illinois.
The schedule really heats up in July. The Sprint Invaders will again be part
of "Firecracker 50" night at West Liberty Raceway in West Liberty, Iowa on
July 4. The following Thursday (July 9) they will headline the card at the
Cedar County Raceway in Tipton, Iowa during the Fair. The following evening
(July 10) they will make their annual trek to the Lee County Speedway during
the county fair held there. Sunday, July 19, the series makes the first of
two appearances at the Quincy Raceways near Quincy, Illinois.
The Knoxville Raceway 360 Nationals will be held August 6 through 8 this
season, and on the Saturday following the 49th Annual SuperClean Knoxville
Nationals (August 22), the series returns to 34 Raceway.
Five dates in September are planned, including a big three-race weekend in
Illinois. On September 5, the series visits CJ Raceway. The big weekend in
Illinois will include the Herb Barlow Memorial at the Morgan County Speedway
on Friday, September 11, the Tom Knowles Memorial at the Spoon River
Speedway near Canton on Saturday, September 12, and a return to Quincy
Raceways on Sunday, September 13. The Season Championship concludes the
season at 34 Raceway on Saturday, September 26.
The POWRi National Midget series will join the Sprint Invaders for three
entertaining open-wheel twin bills in 2009! The midgets will join the
program on May 15 and September 11 in Jacksonville, and at Spoon River on
September 12.
Prospective owners and drivers are encouraged to pre-register as early as
possible with the Sprint Invaders. The first twenty owners to register will
receive a discount on a right rear tire from American Racer. The series

Golden Eagle Distributing – Budweiser of Burlington, trophy sponsor, Staats
