Kuhn & Dillion take POWRi Opener at “The Mini Magic Mile”

DUQUOIN, IL (March 28)  – Brad Kuhn of Avon, IN wasted no time in making his mark on the 2009 POWRi National Midget season winning the 40 lap Dean King Memorial at “The Mini Magic Mile” driving the A.J. Felker Stealth midget. A total of 39 midgets filled the pits competing for the 20 feature positions available. Tim Siner of Dupo, IL started on the pole and set the pace early leading the first 27 laps of the event. As the track started to dry out, Kuhn dove under Siner for the lead. Kuhn would pace the field while Brad Loyet of Sunset Hills, MO worked his way up to second followed by Nick Knepper of Belleville, IL and Siner.

Loyet would make a run on Kuhn on the final lap and made contact with Kuhn coming off of turn four and would take the checkered in front of Kuhn. After a brief deliberation the POWRi officials determined that Loyet would be relegated to the last car on the lead lap because of the contact in turn four and awarded the win to Kuhn. The official top five would be Kuhn, Nick Knepper, Siner, Tracy Hines coming from 15th starting position and Matt Westfall.

Greg Dillion of Terre Haute, IN led the final 20 laps of the 30 lap O’Reilly POWRi 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint event winning the Dean King Memorial at “The Mini Magic Mile”. There were a total of 79 micro sprints entered for the event. Jeremy Camp would lead the first 10 laps of the race followed closely by Dillion and Austin Laskey. On lap 10 Dillion dove under Camp for the lead with Laskey in tow. Laskey would give chase to Dillion as they started to weave through lapped traffic but Dillion proved to be too strong. Following Dillion at the finish would be Laskey, Derek King, Andrew Felker and Joey Paynter.
