Mincer, Houseman, Jr. score sweet victories
By Robin Schneiderman

WEST BURLINGTON, IA (June 6) -  The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders added to their history books on Saturday, June 6th running both a complete regular show and a bonus non-winged feature to cap the night of fast-paced action at 34 Raceway in West Burlington. To honor the memory of local vintage driver, Ed Schulthies, his vintage sprinter led the 23 car field as they saluted the crowd with their 4 abreast parade lap.  Bobby Mincer of Burlington started on the pole and led all 25 laps of the feature.  The battle was for the second spot during the first five laps as John Schulz and Ryan Jamison swapped back and forth until a malfunction in Jamison’s car brought out the yellow sending the 51J to the pits.  Mincer worked his way through lapped traffic with Schulz and Jim Moughan on his tail. The night’s Hard Charger honors would go to Jerrod Hull who would start 22nd and pull up through the ranks to finish 4th.  Rookie contender Ben Wagoner would fill out the top five when the checkered flags flew.

In a first ever non-winged event for the Invaders, 16 drivers drew for starting position as 34 Raceway Promoter Amy Laue thanked the teams for participating in the historic 20 lap feature. Des Moines driver Mike Houseman, Jr. would take the checkers followed by his brother, C.J. Houseman with Matt Sutton, Matt Harms and Jimmy Davies rounding out the top five.  It was the first time "topless" for many of the SIA drivers.

Earlier in the evening Schulz, Wagoner and Mincer won heat races.  Schulz won the Ed Schulthies Memorial Fast Car Shake-Up Dash.

The Ideal Ready Ready Mix Sprint Invaders next appearance will be at the Quad City Raceway in East Moline, Illinois on Sunday, June 28th.  Last year John Schulz was the winner there at the Kevin Doty Tribute Race. A chartered bus from Burlington to East Moline is available for the event.  Visit the Sprint Invaders website at www.sprintinvaders.com or call the SIA office at (319)753-0466 for more information.
