Bodenhamer and Long Find Victory Lane Again as Kevin David Snares His First-Ever ULMA Feature Win! By Sam Stoecklin ULMA Media Relations WARRENSBURG, MO (May 20) - There are now four weekends of racing in the books as the chase for the 2008 Advantage Metals Recycling ULMA championship continues. Jason Bodenhamer of Centerview, Missouri and Rylan Long of Greenfield, Missouri each scored feature race wins this past weekend. It was Bodenhamer’s fourth overall victory and Long’s third. Kevin David became the newest feature winner by racing his way to victory lane at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri, which was finally able to run its opening night of racing in the books after many rainouts LA Raceway in LaMonte, Missouri, also began its race season last Friday after several weeks of weather-related cancellations. There were 15 late models on hand competing in two heat races to set the field for the 20-lap main event. Bodenhamer nailed the gas from the get go and was never contested throughout the main event. Other strong runs at LA included Bryon Allison, J.D. Hubert, Mike Ryun and Tommy Cordray who ran second thru fifth respectively. At Callaway Raceway, behind Kevin David, who is a brand-new ULMA member, was Javan Payne with his best run of the season so far in second place. In Saturday-night action, Bodenhamer continued his hot streak with his fourth-consecutive ULMA win and second at Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway (CMS). ‘Bodee’ had his car hooked up on the high side and led an outstanding green-to-checkered flag race ahead of Warrensburg driver Jon Binning who had his hands full with a resurging Kevin Coyne of Kingsville. Rounding out the top five at the ‘Burg were Mike Ryun and defending ULMA Rookie of the Year, Brett Wood. Ryun is the current Rookie of the Year leader in the standings. At Lucas Oil Speedway, Rylan Long continued his dominance by blazing to his third feature win of the season. Of the four main events contested this year at Lucas Oil Speedway, Long has driven to victory lane three times and with his most recent victory has vaulted into ninth place in the overall point standings. Behind Long at the finish at Lucas were J.D. Hubert, Bryon Allison, James Rutledge and Ken Dickinson. Bodenhamer holds a 52-point lead over Rutledge in second in the overall ULMA standings. Binning sits in the third position with fellow Warrensburg driver Brett Wood in fourth, J.D. Hubert rounds at the top five. The top four in the standings each have six starts this year. ULMA points are earned at any of the four affiliated tracks throughout the points-earning season. At the end of the year a driver’s 15 best finishes are used to determine the overall standings. Callaway Raceway and LA Raceway run on Friday nights with Lucas Oil Speedway and CMS competing on Saturday nights. Drivers are reminded that if CMS rains out on Saturday the 24th, the full race program including ULMA Late Models will run on Sunday the 25th at normal times as previously announced.
