TWO DATE CHANGES FOR USMTS CASEY’S GENERAL STORES NATIONAL TOUR

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (July 20) – Two USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour dates in the month of August have changed recently, and officials have set the final 2009 campaign schedule of events leading up to, and including, the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Championship.

FRIDAY, AUG. 7 - MIDWAY SPEEDWAY, LEBANON, MO

The tireless touring titans were supposed to make their debut at the Kankakee Motor Speedway in Kankakee, Ill., on Friday, Aug. 7, but the track has closed for the remainder of the season. Therefore, that date will now find the USMTS road warriors back at the Midway Speedway in Lebanon, Mo., for some “unfinished business.”

After heat races were completed back on May 15, rain forced the postponement of the Real Racing Wheels “B” Mains and Sunoco “A” Main. Those events will now be completed on Friday, Aug. 7, and will decide the final points standings in the Bear Tire Mo-Kan Region.

Heat wins on May 15 went to Kelly Shryock, Brian Bolin, Rodney Sanders and Zack VanderBeek, with Shryock garnering the AFCO Pole Award by earning the most passing points. The top-12 passing points earners — Shryock, Bolin, Jason Hughes, Sanders, VanderBeek, Scott Green, Johnny Bone Jr., Jamie Ragland, Chad Wheeler, Terry Phillips, Tony Jackson Jr. and Bryan Rowland — are locked into the Sunoco “A” Main on Aug. 7.

Including USMTS and track provisionals, 12-14 additional drivers will be added to the main event through Real Racing Wheels “B” Mains. New entries are welcome to join in the fun on Aug. 7, but new entries will be required to start at the tail end of a Real Racing Wheels “B” Main.

The Midway Speedway will open the pit gates at 4:00 with grandstand gates opening at 5:00. Hot laps are slated for 7:00 with racing at 8:00. Local Factory Stocks, Bombers, B-Mods and Pure Stocks are also on the racing card.

The Midway Speedway is a 3/8-mile semi-banked clay oval located 0.5 mile south of SR 32 on CR B in Lebanon, Mo. For more information, call 417-594-0594 or 417-588-4430 on race day. The track's online home can be found at www.lebanonmidwayspeedway.com online.

SATURDAY, AUG. 15 - CANEY VALLEY SPEEDWAY, CANEY, KS

On Friday, March 13, the Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan., was set to play host to the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour for the first time ever. Mother Nature had other plans and rained-out the event.

A second attempt on May 13 was also a wash.

Officials, drivers and fans are hoping the third time's the charm as the Caney Valley Speedway will host the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour on Saturday, Aug. 15. The $3,000-to-win event will be the last of a five-day swing to kick off the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Championship.

The date was originally reserved for the dirt track at Heartland Park in Topeka, Kan., but was canceled by the track's promoter.

Under the direction of promoter Kerry Gorby, the Caney Valley Speedway reopened last August for the first time since 2004. Gorby and his staff have given the facility a complete top-to-bottom facelift, including new restrooms, concessions and pit buildings, plus the addition of an air-conditioned press tower, a new and improved p.a. system and thousands of gallons of fresh paint.

Pit gates will open at 4:00, grandstands open at 5:00, hot laps are at 7:30 and racing starts at 8:00. Also on the evening's schedule of events will be Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and Turf Cars battling for track points.

Race fans can pick up $2-off discount coupons on Saturday at the Casey's General Store location in Caney.

The Caney Valley Speedway is a 1/4-mile semi-banked clay oval located 0.8 mile west of the junction of US 75 and US 166 on CR 1600. For more information call 620-330-0485 or visit www.caneyvalleyspeedway.net on the World Wide Web.
