WATERTOWN, S.D. (July 19) – The Country Inn & Suites and Quality Inn & Suites in Watertown, S.D., are the Official Host Hotels for the 6th Annual Team Elecronics Summer Slam when the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) visits the Casino Speedway in Watertown on Thursday, July 29, as part of the five-race “modFURY.com Chaos in the Dakotas.”

Guest of both hotels will enjoy the totally remodeled rooms complete with high-speed wireless internet, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, hair dryers, irons, ironing boards and cable television with HBO. Non-smoking and handicap accessible rooms are available. The facilities are complete with a complimentary deluxe continental breakfast, indoor pool and hot tub and exercise room.

Tommy Myer of Blooming Prairie, Minn., won the inaugural event at the Casino Speedway in 2005, but stealing the spotlight for the next three years were a pair of Watertown residents. Former track champion and current full-time USMTS competitor Jon Tesch capured he checkered flag in 2006 and 2008, while Scott Ward topped the 2007 show. Clear Lake, Iowa’s Al Hejna is the defending champion of the race.

Along with the mud-slinging machines of the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour, fans will witness NASCAR legend Ken Schrader on the track as he goes head to head with the best Modified drivers in the country.

Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and grandstands open at 4, with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7 p.m. for the Thursday night festivities. Also on the racing card will be Street Stocks.

The Casino Speedway is a 3/8-mile semi-banked clay oval located 4.0 miles northwest of US 212 on SR 20, then south on Stokes-Thomas Lake Rd. (next to the city park).
