Dirt Modified
world gearing up for 13th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree, Sept. 21-24
SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (Sept. 6) – The wait is nearly over for thousands of
Dirt Modified fans as they continue to gobble up tickets and camping spots
for the 13th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree – the undisputed marquee event
for America’s most talented Modified drivers on dirt.
Just 16 days are left to be crossed off the calendar before this year’s
blockbuster event takes place at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley,
Minn., Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 22-25.
Tickets may be purchased online at
www.deercreekspeedway.com or by calling toll-free 877-DCS-RACE. For
track or campground info, call 507-346-2342 or email
info@deercreekspeedway.com.
What took more than a generation for the Knoxville Nationals and World 100
to become for sprint cars and late models, the Featherlite Fall Jamboree has
exploded into the Mecca for Modifieds where “anybody who’s anybody” in the
sport makes a pilgrimage each year to measure his or her abilities against
the best that their peers have to offer.
And while all of the entrants will be focused on garnering the biggest share
of the prize money, a handful of drivers will also have one eye on the most
prestigious title in all of dirt Modified racing: the USMTS National
Championship.
For the fifth straight year, the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s General Stores
National Championship powered by Swan Energy will conclude at the
Featherlite Fall Jamboree with a possible $13,000 or more to win over three
days and an additional $20,000 payday awaiting the 2011 USMTS National
Champion.
Along with the USMTS Modifieds, the event will also feature WISSOTA Midwest
Mods with more than 60 entries expected to compete again this year.
Combined, the two classes will compete for a total purse of more than
$200,000 in America's dream date for dirt Modified fans.
The Deer Creek Speedway is a high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval which sits on 60
acres with one of America’s most popular state-of-the-art racing complexes
and an adjoining campground. More USMTS main events have been staged at ‘The
Creek’ than any other racetrack, and Thursday’s Featherlite Fall Jamboree
opener will be the 55th race here in the 13-year history of the United
States Modified Touring Series.
On Wednesday, Sept. 21, early bird race fans can get a free preview of the
action, and drivers will get their chance to make final adjustments to their
machines with an open practice for drivers in both classes from 6-9 p.m.
Gates open at 4 p.m. with admission to the grandstands free for all.
Three complete shows are on tap for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Thursday's USMTS Modified main event carries a $3,000 top prize and pays a
minimum of $450 to each of the 30 starters while WISSOTA Midwest Mods will
race for $300 to win – but that’s only opening day at the Featherlite Fall
Jamboree. Gates open at 3 p.m. and the first green flag waves at 5 p.m. The
night will wind down with a karaoke party in the pits following the races.
On Friday, the USMTS Modifieds will compete in a feature race with $4,000
earmarked for the winner and $550 for each of the 30 starters. WISSOTA
Midwest Mods will see $400 going to the winner. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the
first green flag waves at 5:30.
Friday’s menu will kick off with the annual golf tournament in the morning.
Fans, drivers, crews and families will put a lid on Friday’s festivities
with the return of The Dweebs performing live on stage following the races.
Saturday's explosive finale will feature the hottest dirt Modified pilots in
the nation battling for one of 30 spots in the main event that will take the
green flag three cars wide and ten rows deep. Drivers will battle for a
$6,000 top prize and at least $900 just to take the green flag.
And if that wasn’t enough, Saturday’s non-qualifiers will have a chance at
one of 30 spots in the Non-Qualifiers Race, which carries a $2,000 top prize
and pays $400 to start ... that’s more than most “big” Modified races pay to
win their main event.
Saturday's WISSOTA Midwest Mod “A” Main winner will earn $500.
The annual Bean Bag Tournament begins earlier in the day on Saturday. Fans
can begin storming the gates at 3 p.m. and the mud starts flying at 5.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, breakfast will be served by the Bear Creek
Lutheran Church in the hospitality area from 8-11 a.m. All proceeds benefit
the Bear Creek Men’s Club. Open to all … you don’t want to miss this great
home-cooked opportunity.
WISSOTA national points will be awarded all three nights for the WISSOTA
Midwest Mods.
