CRESCO SEASON OPENER POSTPONED UNTIL MAY 4
by: Jeff Nun
CRESCO, Iowa (April 25) -- The start to the 2007 racing season at the Cresco
Speedway will have to wait one more week.
With poor weather recently and a little more work to do in order to get the
racing surface in shape, officials at RL Promotions have moved the 2007 season
opener to Friday, May 4, at the 4/10-mile clay oval speedplant in Northeast
Iowa.
“Hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate so that we can get the track work done
and get to racing at the Cresco Speedway in 2007,” said promoter Todd Staley.
All new clay was hauled in during early Spring, but weather woes have hampered
the crew's ability to properly prepare the new racing surface.
A new era will begin as the historic Mighty Howard County Fairgrounds switches
from Sundays to Fridays for regular weekly shows. An exciting season of racing
under the United States Racing Association banner will kick off on Friday, May
4, with the season opener for the USRA Casey’s General Stores Weekly Racing
Series featuring USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks
and Outlaw Hobbys.
Originally scheduled for May 4, a special appearance by the USRA Late Models has
been postponed until a soon-to-be-announced date.

the Howard County Fairgrounds).
