Iron Man Challenge invades Oskaloosa, Bloomfield this week
OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 18) – For those still trying to catch their breath
after last week’s epic finishes at the Great American Stock Car Shootout,
officials have announced that race fans will be allowed to bring their
defibrillators into the grandstands this Wednesday and Thursday when the
Iron Man Challenge delivers two days of heart-stopping action in Oskaloosa
and Bloomfield, Iowa.
‘Simply incredible’ was a commonly heard phrase last Tuesday following the
main events for the USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars and USRA Karl Performance
Parts B-Mods at the Southern Iowa Speedway.
The B-Mod feature saw a green-white-checkered finish with Cayden Carter
powering to his fourth win of the season at the Mahaska County Monster while
the Stock Car finale produced multiple lead changes and a swarm of full-fendered
machines swapping positions every lap before Kevin Donlan finally crossed
beneath the checkered flags first in a jaw-dropping finish.
While the Iron Man Challenge will make its third stop at the half-mile Osky
oval this Wednesday, July 20, the series will make its debut at the
Bloomfield Speedway on Thursday for the only stop at the 3/8-mile speedplant
this season.
WARNING: Both events will feature the Iron Man Challenge Stock Cars and B-Mods
racing in conjunction with the high-powered USMTS Modifieds, so race
officials recommend that those with severe medical problems and women who
are pregnant or nursing get really good seats!
Fans will also get plenty of excitement before and after the races both
nights as Wednesday’s show in Oskaloosa will be during the Southern Iowa
Fair while Thursday’s event at Bloomfield happens during the annual Davis
County Fair. Both fairs will feature dozens of activities for families and
people of all ages, including games, shows and lots of great food.
Check out
www.southerniowafair.com and
www.daviscountyfair.org for more info about this year’s fair events.
Casey’s General Stores will have discount coupons good for $2 off adult
admission for both events. On race day, fans can pick up coupons at all
three Casey’s locations in Oskaloosa and can find them at Casey’s locations
in Bloomfield, Memphis (Mo.) and Ottumwa on Thursday. To find the location
nearest you, visit
