WORLD DIRT RACING LEAGUE UNVEILS NEW SCORING
SYSTEM
Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation FinishLine System in place for season opener in
Davenport

WORLD Dirt Racing League
Gilman City, Mo. (March 16, 2006) -- A new electronic scoring system will be in
place when The WORLD Dirt Racing League PolyDome Late Model Series opens its
2006 season in a few weeks.
According to WDRL founder and president Jim Wilson, the series will unveil the
Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation FinishLine scoring system at Davenport Speedway
in Davenport, Iowa, when series drivers open their 29-race 2006 schedule on
April 7.
"One of our goals has always been to provide fans with an exciting race program
that is run fairly and efficiently," noted Wilson.
"The new FinishLine scoring system will allow us to pinpoint car locations on
the race track at all times, expedite realignment after a caution flag, and
enable us to get the finishing order instantly after the completion of every
race," he added. "Without question, race fans will appreciate how this will
contribute to our ability to run a much smoother program."
According to Wilson the new system will require that a pick-up loop be installed
beneath the racing surface at every series venue. Also, each competing race car
will be equipped with a transponder, which will be attached to one of the car's
frame rails.
"With the help of Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation, we will be able to give all
of last year's WDRL members a free transponder," said Wilson. "Drivers who
choose not to become members will be allowed to rent a transponder at the races
they attend."
Wilson says the on-board transponder will score each participant electronically
as his or her car crosses the pick-up loop at the start-finish line.
"Our sponsorship of the FinishLine scoring system is part of our commitment to
the sport itself and to the WORLD Dirt Racing League," commented Jim Groves,
president of Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation.
"We have always been impressed with the professionalism of the WDRL, and this
new system will further enhance the image of the series by minimizing down time
between a caution flag and the restart and ensuring a correct finishing order at
each race."
