RAIN WASHES OUT WDRL EVENT AT DAVENPORT SPEEDWAY
No decision has been made on rescheduling the event
By Tom Lathen
WORLD Dirt Racing League
Davenport, Iowa (July 3, 2006) - The WORLD Dirt Racing League PolyDome Late
Model Series event scheduled for Friday evening here at Davenport Speedway was
canceled because of rain.
A band of heavy showers moved through the Davenport area around 5:30 p.m.
Friday, making it impossible to prepare the fabled Mississippi Valley
Fairgrounds speed plant for the scheduled finale of a three-night Independence
Day holiday weekend series swing.
Series officials weighed the amount of time that would have been required to
prepare the race track following the showers against the city-imposed noise
curfew on the race track before making the final decision to cancel the event.
It is not known at this time whether the event will be rescheduled.
