FOX RIDGE SPEEDWAY ADDED TO 2007 WDRL SCHEDULE
West central Wisconsin speed plant to host August 31 series event
By Tom Lathen
WORLD Dirt Racing League
GILMAN CITY, MO. (March 26, 2007) - Fox Ridge Speedway in Arcadia, Wisconsin is
the latest addition to the 2007 WORLD Dirt Racing League PolyDome Late Model
Series schedule.
The three-eighths mile, high-banked facility, with veteran Wisconsin race
promoter Chris Stepan at the helm, will host a series event on Friday night,
Aug. 31, the first night of what will be a four-day Labor Day weekend swing for
series drivers.
"When I saw that date was open, I talked to (WDRL series director) Jim
(Wilson) right away and wanted to jump on it," commented Stepan.
"It not only is a good date because it is our regular Friday night, but it is a
good date because it is the first day of a holiday weekend."
Following the $5,000-to-win event at Fox Ridge Speedway, series drivers will
compete at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.; Highway 3 Raceway in
Allison, Iowa; and Quad City Raceway in East Moline, Ill., to complete the four
nights of racing over the final holiday weekend of the summer.
This year's event at Fox Ridge will mark the third appearance by PolyDome Late
Model Series drivers at the state-of-the-art facility in rural west central
Wisconsin. Badger State hot-shoe Brady Smith won the inaugural WDRL event at
Arcadia in 2004, with Davenport, Iowa's Brian Harris picking up his first-ever
series win there last June.
According to Stepan, however, WDRL drivers will see some changes when they pull
the big rigs into the facility this year.
"We're doing a few different things at Arcadia this year," noted Stepan. "We're
putting about a foot of new clay around the entire race track starting this
week, so the place should be a little different than the last time the WDRL was
here.
"As long as the weather is good, we should have a great show," he added. "I hope
we can cap off a great season by packing the place for this event."
The Fox Ridge Speedway event is the 28th date on this year's WORLD Dirt Racing
League "World Tour." Series drivers kick off the 2007 season on Friday night,
April 6, on the half-mile oval at Davenport Speedway, before racing the
following night at West Liberty Raceway's half mile.
