GILMAN CITY, MO. (April 11, 2007) - This weekend’s rescheduled WORLD Dirt Racing
League PolyDome Late Model Series season openers at Farley (Iowa) Speedway and
West Liberty (Iowa) Raceway have again been postponed due to adverse weather
conditions.
With snow moving across northern and central Iowa on Wednesday, series officials
and officials of Simmons Promotions Inc. made the decision to move back the two
season-opening events to Friday and Saturday, April 20 and 21.
"Hopefully the third time will be the charm," noted series co-founder and
president Jim Wilson. "I know our race teams and fans are ready to get going,
but the weather man just doesn't seem to want to cooperate with us," added
Wilson. "The forecast for the end of next week is calling for temperatures in
the 60s and only a slight change of any precipitation, so we should be able to
get the season underway with no problems.
Action on both Friday in Farley and Saturday in West Liberty is scheduled to get
underway with hot laps at 6, followed by group qualifying at 6:30 and qualifying
races at 7 p.m.
The WDRL and Simmons Promotions also have announced the addition of another race
to this year's PolyDome Late Model Series schedule. A 40-lap, $5,000-to-win
series event on the half-mile at Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa, has been
scheduled for Wednesday night, June 6.
A total of 29 race dates now appear on this year's WDRL schedule.
