WDRL EVENT AT FREEPORT RACEWAY PARK POSTPONED
Wet weather forces move from Thursday night to this Saturday night

GILMAN CITY, MO (April 25) - Thursday’s WORLD Dirt Racing League event at
Freeport Raceway Park has been postponed because of persistent wet weather in
the area.
The event has been rescheduled for this Saturday, April 28 on the northwest Illinois semi-banked half-mile oval.
“After visiting with the Gills (promoters Randy and Virginia Gill) numerous times over the past couple of days, it is apparent with all of the rain they are getting, that trying to get the race in on Thursday will be impossible,” said series co-founder and President Jim Wilson. “As we looked at possibilities, it just made sense to move the race to this Saturday, which is their normal night for weekly racing anyway.”
“The forecast for Saturday looks good for the Freeport area,” added Wilson. “Compared to what we are dealing with for the next day and a half, we should be in great shape on Saturday.”
This week’s series event at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, still remains scheduled for Friday night, meaning the Freeport race will follow the event at the Marion County Fairgrounds facility, as opposed to preceding it, as was originally scheduled.
Group qualifying at Knoxville on Friday will get underway at 6:30, with racing to follow. On Saturday at Freeport, group qualifying is set for a 6:00 start, with heat race action to follow.
