TONIGHT'S WDRL RACE AT DAVENPORT (IOWA) SPEEDWAY POSTPONED The race has been rescheduled for Friday, July 25 By Bucky Doren WORLD Dirt Racing League DAVENPORT, IA (May 23) - The WORLD Dirt Racing League Late Model Series race scheduled for tonight (Friday) here at Davenport Speedway has been postponed due to inclement weather. Heavy rain over the past 24 hours saturated the track, and officials were left with no choice but to reschedule the event. Promoter Bob Wagener and his staff tried to work the track in this afternoon. After a handful of vehicles became stuck in the mud, track officials were left with no choice but to call off the event, which was to feature the WDRL cars on the half-mile and IMCA Late Models on the quarter-mile track. The make-up date for the Late Model double-dip is Friday, July 25. This coming Sunday, May 25, the WDRL Late Models will be part of the letters in the famous "Alphabet Soup" race at the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. Along with WDRL, the MLRA, NCRA and TORA series will come together for one spectacular night of racing over the Memorial Day weekend. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. Sunday with qualifying set for 6.
