WORLD DIRT RACING LEAGUE ACTION IS RAINED OUT AT I-80 SPEEDWAY The race is tentatively rescheduled for July 2 to will kick off a three-race swing By Bucky Doren WORLD Dirt Racing League GREENWOOD, NE. (May 26) - The WORLD Dirt Racing League joined three other race-sanctioning bodies here at I-80 Speedway for the famous Alphabet Soup race on Sunday. But rain rolled in just as the first heat race was completed and washed out the rest of the racing action. The make-up date has tentatively been set for Wednesday, July 2. I-80 Speedway staff worked for several hours after Sunday's shower, trying to roll the track into racing condition. Despite their valiant efforts, track officials and drivers met and decided that the event would have to be postponed, citing driver safety based on track conditions. The tentative July 2 make-up date would make the race the first of a three-day swing for the WORLD Dirt Racing League over the Fourth of July holiday. The WDRL Late Model Series is scheduled to hit Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., on July 3. On July 4, drivers are slated to compete in the recently added race at the Clay County Speedway in Spencer, Iowa.
