EAST MOLINE, Ill. (April 14) – Top drivers of the WORLD Dirt Racing League (WDRL) will challenge the best from United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) here at Quad City Raceway on Sunday, April 19, highlighted by an exciting 50-lap main event. The WDRL stars and cars kicked off their 2009 season with a thrilling -- though cool --night of hot action all over the historic half-mile Davenport (Iowa) Speedway on April 4. They’re looking forward to their return to the Quad-Cities and the Quad City Raceway oval. Last year’s WDRL race in April in East Moline featured a great battle between the UMP cars and the WDRL stars with Dennis Erb coming out on top of the star-studded field. Among the many drivers who are expected to compete this Sunday, April 19, are Erb, Chad Simpson, John Kaanta, Steve Lance, Tony Izzo, Denny Eckrich, Dave Eckrich, Matt Furman, Frank Heckenast, Eric Pember, Kevin Weaver, Ace Ihm and Tim Lance. “This is one race that people will not want to miss this year, as the action on the quarter mile will be unbelievable,” said Jim Wilson of WDRL. Grandstand tickets will go on sale at 4 p.m. this Sunday. The pits open at 2, with practice at 5:30 and the first race at 6.
