THE WORLD DIRT RACING LEAGUE GEARS UP FOR A HUGE NORTHERN SWING
More than $100,000 in prize money and valuable series points are on the line June 17-20

GILMAN CITY, MO (June 11, 2009) - The Midwest-based WORLD Dirt Racing League, a touring Late model series now in its eighth season, is preparing to take the series' stars and cars to Minnesota and Wisconsin, a truly breathtaking part of the United States, for four exciting nights of racing.

There the popular WDRL drivers will compete for more than $100,000 in prize money and valuable series points over the four-night WDRL Northern Swing Wednesday through Saturday, June 17-20..

The first stop on the Northern Swing is the beautiful North Central Speedway in Brainerd, Minn., on Wednesday, June 17, where drivers from all over the Midwest and upper Midwest will compete for the lion's share of prize money at each race.

This will be the first appearance there for most WDRL drivers. The one-third mile dirt oval is famous for exciting and fan-pleasing races.

"We are really looking forward to having races at North Central Speedway," said WORLD Dirt Racing League founder and president Jim Wilson.

The series actually will be making two stops in Brainerd this year with the second one coming on Tuesday, July 28.

For the second night of the Northern Swing, Thursday, June 18, the WDRL stars will invade Superior Speedway in Superior, Wis., where, once again, they'll battle top drivers from the region and around the Midwest.

"Superior Speedway is always a very good show with some of the fiercest racing you will ever see," said Wilson. "There is a special place in the hearts of WDRL drivers for Superior Speedway as the track has hosted WDRL races every year since the inception of the series in 2002, and the races have always been exciting from start to finish."

From Superior Speedway, the WORLD Dirt Racing League heads to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond,Wis., for "The Masters," a huge, two-night event that draws drivers from all over the United States to compete for the $50,000 total purse for the two nights of racing.

Racing fans will be treated to an exciting 50-lap WDRL feature event both Friday and Saturday, June 19 and 20.

"This is some of the most exciting racing the fans will see all summer!" exclaimed Wilson. "There will also be an autograph session on Saturday afternoon from 4 to 5 pm. This will give the fans a chance to meet some of their favorite drivers."

The WDRL stars expected to compete in all four events include defending series champion Chad Simpson; the current WDRL point leader, Al Purkey; the Wisconsin gentleman, John Kaanta; and Denny and Dave, the flying Eckrich brothers.

Also expected are Eric Pember, Gordie Seegart, Chad Mahder, Chris Simpson, Rob Moss, Curt Martin, Jeremy Grady, Tim Isenberg, Andrew McKay and Matt Furman, among others.

They will be challenged by drivers such as Pat Doar, Jimmy Mars, Rick Egersdorf, Rick Hanestad, Jake Redetzke, Brent Larson and many others.
