WORLD DIRT RACING LEAGUE PREPARES FOR A SECOND SWING THIS SEASON IN NORTH COUNTRY

Late Model stars to race in Minnesota and Wisconsin July 28-30

GILMAN CITY, MO. (July 22, 2009) - The Midwest-based WORLD Dirt Racing League, a Late Model touring series, is once again headed to the north country.

In late July, the series' stars and cars are going to Minnesota and Wisconsin for their second Northern Swing of the 2009 racing season.

WDRL will be appearing at North Central Speedway in Brainerd, Minn., on Tuesday, July 28, and will top off the night's events with a 40-lap feature that pays $5,000 to win. Series drivers will see if they can top the race they had at North Central in June, where the feature had spectators standing the last five laps and was won by a .020-second margin.

Then, on the next night, Wednesday, July 29, the WORLD Dirt Racing League will again visit Superior Speedway in Superior, Wis., for a 35-lap WDRL feature with a $3,500 first prize. Superior Speedway always creates an exciting atmosphere with competitive races.

On Thursday night, July 30, the popular touring series can be seen in action at the famous Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. Lots of competitors are expected, and the night's 50-lap finale will pay another $5,000 first prize.

The three aforementioned races will be a preview of sorts for the famous USA Nationals being held at Cedar Lake Speedway on Friday and Saturday, July 31 and Aug. 1. The USA Nationals is an unsanctioned race that pays a whopping $50,000 to win again this year.

"The WDRL teams love going to and racing at the tracks in Brainerd, Superior and New Richmond as the fans are the greatest and are always very enthusiastic," said WDRL's president, Jim Wilson. "We expect a strong field of cars to compete in all three of these races. The fans will be treated to great racing all week."

WORLD Dirt Racing League stars expected to compete in this latest Northern Swing include defending series champion Chad Simpson; the current WDRL point leader, Al Purkey; and Denny and Dave, the flying Eckrich brothers. Also expected to file entries are Chad Mahder, Tim Isenberg, Eric Pember, Gordie Seegart, Chris Simpson, Rob Moss, Curt Martin, Jeremy Grady, Andrew McKay and Matt Furman, among others.

The series regulars will be challenged by regional hotshoes such as Pat Doar, Jimmy Mars, Rick Egersdorf, Rick Hanestad, Jake Redetzke, Brent Larson, Brian Birkhofer, Brady Smith, Dennis Erb and many others.

Said Wilson: "There will be so many great dirt track drivers in the Minnesota-Wisconsin area, the fans are sure to be treated to the best of the best all week. It would be a shame to miss even one of these shows."
