DAVENPORT, Ia. (September 21, 2013) – Jeff Aikey was the big winner at the All-Star Classic Saturday night. The event was the final race of the 2013 season at the Davenport Speedway. Highlighting the evening was the season finale for the Deery Brothers Summer Series.

Dan Shelliam started on the outside of the front row and led the first nine circuits of the 40-lap Deery Brothers A-Main. Justin Kay stayed right on Shelliam’s bumper and grabbed the lead on lap ten. Kay would dominate the next twenty laps, before encountering heavy lapped traffic. While mired in the traffic, Aikey made his move, taking the lead on lap 32.

Once in the lead Aikey sailed to the checkered flag, collecting his second straight All-Star Classic win and third Deery victory of 2013. Kay would have to settle for a second place finish, with Brian Harris making a late rally for third. Andy Eckrich finished fourth, followed by Jason Rauen.

Kay, Shelliam, Joel Callahan, and Ray Guss Jr., won the late model heats. Rauen and Chad Simpson won the two B-Mains.

Brian Harris of Davenport, captured his first Deery Brothers Summer Series championship. Harris entered the night with a 26 point lead over Justin Kay.

In the support classes, number two was the place to be. All four feature winners drew the number two in their respective re-draws.

A large field of Street Stocks were on hand for the All-Star Classic. Twenty-three cars started the feature, with Jeremy Gustaf  limping his car into victory lane. Gustaf led all twelve laps of the race, but broke something in the front end on the final lap. Gustaf took the trophy and a ride on the tow truck back to the pit area. Keith Jackson went from tenth starting spot to finish second, with Dan Anderson taking third. Andrew Burk and Cary Brown were fourth and fifth respectively.

Ray Cox Jr. won the Modified feature, which saw a bunch of caution flags. Cox managed to get out front early and take the checkered flag. Bob Moyer also stayed away from the wrecks and finished second. Derek Walker would come home third, ahead of Dakota Hayden and Greg Durbin.

Aaron Hitt chalked up another win in the 4-Stock main. Hitt started in the front row and never looked back. Jon Scott had a strong run to take second. Jason Klerk deRuess finished third. Zach Dahl and Drew Wise completed the top five.

Bryce Garnhart fended off the field inthe SportMod feature. Jayson Wiggins stayed out of trouble to finish second. Kile Vohringer took third, ahead of Tyler Soppe and Kory Meyer.

DRT TRAK Racing would like to thank all the racers and fans who attended the Davenport Speedway in 2013, and hope to see you again next year.
