Big events highlight remainder of 2012 Highway 3 Raceway schedule
ALLISON, Iowa (July 3) – Officials at the Highway 3 Raceway have announced that weekly Saturday night racing has been suspended for the remainder of the 2012 season. Instead, the track will host several special events throughout the next three months.
JULY 10-11 … GREAT AMERICAN STOCK CAR CHALLENGE
On Tuesday and Wednesday, July 10-11, the Great American Stock Car Challenge will take place featuring four big classes battling for big bucks on the historic half-mile oval at the Butler County Fairgrounds. USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods will pay $500 to win on Tuesday night while Hobby Stocks will pay $300 to win. The payoff explodes on Wednesday where Stock Cars and B-Mods will race for $1,500 to win with Hobby Stocks battling for a $700 top prize. A-Mods will also be part of the program with their purse to be announced this week.
AUGUST 1 … B-MOD SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER
On Wednesday, Aug. 1, big money is on the line again for the B-Mod Summer Blockbuster. USRA B-Mods will battle for $2,000 to win and $200 to start. Also on the racing card will be USRA A-Mods ($600 to win), USRA Stock Cars ($500 to win) and USRA Hobby Stocks ($400 to win).
AUGUST 14 … STOCK CAR SUMMER SHOOT-OUT
The inaugural Stock Car Summer Shoot-Out on Tuesday, Aug. 14, will feature the full-fendered USRA Stock Cars competing for $2,000 to win and $200 to start. The show will also showcase the USRA B-Mods ($600 to win), USRA Hobby Stocks ($400 to win) and USRA A-Mods ($600 to win).
AUGUST 21 … “GAMBLERS RACE”
On Tuesday, Aug. 21, the Highway 3 Raceway will host the inaugural “Gamblers Race” where the class with the most cars gets the most money. The class with the biggest car count will race for $1,000 to win and $100 to start. The second-largest class will go for $750 to win and $75 to start, the third-largest gets $500 to win and $50 to start, and the fourth-ranked class of cars will compete for $400 to win and $50 to start.
AUGUST 30 … HUNT FOR THE USMTS CASEY’S CUP
On Thursday, Aug. 30, the high-powered USMTS Modifieds return as they battle for the 2012 title in the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup and a $3,000 top prize. This event will also feature the Industrial Material Surplus Iron Man Challenge featuring USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods.
OCTOBER 5-6 … FALL CHALLENGE
The season will wrap up on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5-6, with the Fall Challenge event featuring the finale for the Industrial Material Surplus Iron Man Challenge with both USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods in action.
All shows at the Highway 3 Raceway will see grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and racing to follow.
USRA track and national points will be awarded to USRA-licensed drivers at all remaining races during the 2012 season, however, a USRA license is not required to compete in any event. Drivers in the A-Mod, Stock Car and B-Mod divisions may utilize either the American Racer KK704 or stamped Hoosier G60 racing tire, and Hobby Stocks will not have a restrictor plate requirement. All other USRA rules apply.
