Deery Brothers showdown set for Davenport Speedway July 5th

DAVENPORT, Ia. (June 27, 2013) – Next Friday, July 5th, the fireworks will take place on the quarter-mile dirt oval at the Davenport Speedway. The racetrack will host the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models.

The race is shaping up to be a showdown for two local drivers. Brian Harris of Davenport, has never won a Deery Brothers race at Davenport, but has been on a terror this season, winning four straight races and leading the series point standings. Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Illinois, has two Deery Brothers wins this season, two Deery titles, and has been track champion at the Davenport Speedway, three of the last four years.

Another driver sure to be in the hunt, is Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls. Aikey is a 7-time Deery Brothers champion, and has won five times at the Davenport Speedway.

Also racing that evening will be IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, IMCA SportMods, and 4-Stocks.

The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open Friday at 4:30pm, the grandstand at 5:00pm, with hotlaps at 6:30 and racing at 7:00pm.
