Deery Series headlines Aug. 12 Iowa State Fair show
DES MOINES, Iowa (Aug. 6) – Another $3,000 top prize is at stake when the Deery Brothers Summer Series travels to Des Moines and the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway on Monday, Aug. 12.
The State Fair show is the 12th of 17 events on the 2013 IMCA Late Model tour schedule. Brian Harris of Davenport already has five feature wins to his credit and brings a 31 point lead over Wheatland’s Justin Kay, a three-time winner, to Des Moines.
Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. with racing to follow.
Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Pit passes are $30.
IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are also on the Monday card, running for all applicable points. Completing the program are the Karl Chevrolet dirt trucks.
Twenty-one previous series events have been held at Des Moines and Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls leads all Deery drivers with five career wins there. Andy Eckrich of Oxford paced the 2012 State Fair feature.
Five September shows bring the series to a close, the first of those events on opening night of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s on Monday, Sept. 2 at Boone Speedway.
IMCA Late Model features are on the card for both nights of the Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14 Yankee Dirt Track Classic at Farley Speedway.
The tour is at Independence Motor Speedway on Friday, Sept. 20 before concluding Saturday, Sept. 21 at Davenport Speedway.
